Spot.ph reveals 10 motel myths

A friend of mine passed me this article about the 10 motel secrets that you think you knew but didn't. It was pretty interesting, as it somehow broke the stereotype of motels here in Manila as a sleaze spot.

Believe it or not, I have been in a motel -- not for some sexy time, but to actually have a Christmas party with my teammates. Yes, last year, my officemates organized a party in a motel in Malate called Sohotel. It's located near the Malate Church and almost behind Aristocrat. We reserved the Party Suite, an L-shaped room that had a sofa, a bar, 2 huge flat screen TVs with DVD and videoke, and a really big bed that would fit like 8-10 people. There's even a Wii there. The restroom had a TV and Jacuzzi, which of course we didn't use. They offered buffet style dinner for us. On the outside, you'd really know it's a motel, but when you get inside, you'd forget it's one -- other than the fact that there's a sachet of lubricant and condom on the bed and the urinals of the guys just beside the common restroom sink.

Here are some photos of Sohotel's Party Suite:

With my "wholesome" experience in a motel, I could say that I could attest to the facts that broke myths #6, 7, and 10. We didn't tune in to any TV station, so I don't know about myth #9. As for the rest, well, I'll have to trust the source. Haha!
